James Cole is a former prosecutor with years of experience handling some of the most serious cases. Over the course of his legal career, James has developed a reputation as a skilled litigator.
Prior to entering into private practice, James worked as a prosecutor both in Nassau County on Long Island and Monroe County. As an Assistant District Attorney, James handled nearly every type of criminal case imaginable, including Homicide, Assault, DWI, Burglary, Robbery, and Larceny.
During his career as a prosecutor, James focused his attention on handling thousands of Driving While Intoxicated cases and Vehicular crimes. While assigned to the Vehicular Crimes and DWI Bureaus, James received specialized training on DWI cases, including Standardized Field Sobriety Tests (SFSTs), Breath Tests, Refusals, Motor Vehicle Accidents, Personal Injury Accidents, Leaving the Scene of an Accident, and Driving with a Suspended License (Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle).
James has conducted many bench and jury trials throughout Monroe County's Town, City, County and Supreme Courts. He has tried everything from low level violations to complex felonies.
Due to this vast experience, James has a deep understanding of law enforcement techniques, prosecutorial strategy and the knowledge needed to successfully defend any criminal case.
James received his undergraduate degree with honors from the State University of New York at Geneseo. He subsequently earned his law degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo Law School, where he received awards for his writing and litigation skills as a member of the Moot Court and Mock Trial Competition Teams.
